A Quickie: Seasonal Tealight Holder

This simple project gave me an excuse to practice bleed offsets in Studio for print-and-cut.

I have recycled glass container from a shop-bought candle that I have used up, covered it with red vellum and decorated with the Silhouette-created embellishments. I have used last week's leaf garland free shape as well as my own design of a roll-up flower.

The best thing about it? When I get tired of it, the whole thing may be ripped off without a trace and replaced with something fresh and new in no time at all!

Lannister Cakes: His and Hers

Ever since I learnt about the Cameo, I was excited about its potential for making stencils. This project gave me a fun way to try this out.

I have used a file from the store to create the stencil, and then decorated the icing with Dr. Oetker food colour and shimmer spray.

The wraparound is made using another adapted store cutting file. I have traced the Lannister lion and framed it using a free shape which came with the software. The material I used are mirri card and red vellum.

His and hers. Or something.

Design on the left is meant to suggest a window

View from the back: I've added a smaller medallion there to cover the seam in wraparound.

As this was my first ever attempt at working with icing, I have used the shop-boughth icing pack and cakes for the project. The cakes inside are Victoria sponge. I a perfect world they would be red velvet, of course.

I want to enter this project into the Silhouette Blog celebration challenge.

Silhouette: Sketch and Cut Project

I've been working on a little project for this week's Silhouette blog challenge, and so far I think I've got a pretty neat idea, but the execution is just not working out. Oh well. I'll have another go tonight.

In the meantime, here's how I've been putting my Cameo to practical use: tea jar labels!

I have used a free frame shape from the Silhouette library that came with the software, a font I had on my computer (Stone Temple) and Silhouette sketch pens.

I think it came out rather well. No more playing tea roulette!

I've also saved money by using up some scrap off-cuts from a previous project.

Seriously, this is downright frugal.

My First Silhouette Card

This is a Thank You card for a colleague who let me borrow his umbrella. I've used 2 pieces of Studio Calico paper from the 6" Take Note pad, a cutting file, and my shiny new Silhouette Cameo.

I want to enter it in the following challenges:

Getting into the Decoupage

My second ever decoupage attempt. I think I am getting hooked. There is something about the combination of mindlessness (for lack of a better word) and supreme concentration required for the task that really sucks me in.

Materials used:
Crafter's Inspiration Issue 2 magazine and disc for decoupage
Barkley CD-ROM for the brown polka dot backing paper
Inspiration and Barkley CD-ROMs for papers for the rosettes
Crafter's Companion Ultimate Pro for rosettes
card and embellishments from my stash
